A UK directory, with a closer local look.
The UK directory contains 69,048 source-backed listings across 362 local reporting areas. Read its source date, coverage and limitations. Directory records are separate from the individually researched entries.
Pub Book also brings together 216 pubs and public bars in 20 local guides. The South Hams edition remains our first local collection. New Devon and Cornwall chapters are researched selections that will grow, rather than complete county directories. The detailed guides are selections, not rankings. Read the coverage and status notes for pubs awaiting confirmation, reported closures and the scope of the guide. The aim is to make choosing easier: a reason to go, the details that matter and a direct link to the people who know the pub best.
Research first. Visits next.
The original South Hams edition was researched online on 1 November 2026; the first Devon and Cornwall expansion was researched on 6 November 2026. Each entry records its own source-check date. We use pub and brewery websites, CAMRA listings and other named local sources. We have not personally visited or reviewed these venues for the guide. Every pub entry lists its sources and explains relevant uncertainty.
Features are included where the sources support them. An absent tag means unconfirmed, not necessarily unavailable. “Dogs welcome” may apply only in certain rooms; “water views” may mean an upstairs restaurant. Read the notes and confirm with the venue.
Independent choices.
There are no paid placements, affiliate commissions or confirmed pub partnerships in this edition. We don’t publish invented ratings or testimonials. If sponsorship is introduced later, it should be clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial selection.
Before visiting.
Use the pub’s current information for menus, opening and kitchen times, dietary needs, bookings and access. Historic buildings, rural lanes, ferries and tidal areas need their own practical planning. The guide does not reserve tables or provide live availability.
Real places. Proper credit.

Your shortlist & privacy.
Your shortlist is stored in this browser’s local storage, without an account. It is not sent to us or synced across devices. Removing all saved pubs clears the list; clearing browser data also removes it. If storage is unavailable, the list works only until you leave or refresh the page.
